Statement
My artistic practice meanders between science, technology and care. By interweaving these disciplines I create
works, which are centred around the existential paradox of care, trust, control, dependence and autonomy.
Through radical presence, attentiveness and concentration I create intimacy. I actively cultivate relationships that are imperfect, troubled and full of discomfort. The cultivation of relationships is my method of fieldwork that brings into constellation social, cultural and environmental forces that bridge the past, present and future. My research reveals the porosity and the cracks in our understanding of the world, in space and time.
I am interested in the human condition in the world: What kinds of relationships do we have? With ourselves, with other human beings, and with our environment.
I wonder how these relationships are influenced by new technologies and changes in the way we perceive our environment. I explore the fascination for new technologies, but also, at the same time, the loss of intimacy and trust.
It is my goal to find form and space for vulnerability and strength, permeability and demarcation.
Biography
Zurich based artist Luisa Sabrina Stark was born in 1978. Stark studied at the Liceo Artistico in Zurich between 1994 and 1997 before starting her master in physics at ETH Zurich. She completed her master with Summa cum Laude before focusing on supersymmetry and dark matter search during her PhD.
In 2026 she graduated in the predoctoral program "Reasearch in the Arts" at the Academy of the Arts in Bern, Switzerland. Stark’s multi-disciplinary practice is based on her personal experiences and her interest in science.
